‘Walkscape Encounters with Sound’ by Tomás Quintais

Creating a sense of place – whether through social, historical, or geographical dynamics of encountering – often involves multiple layers of situated listening, closely tied to the act of walking. At the same time, engaging in dialogue with a place implies a collective process of belonging, shaped by different forms of perception.
This sonic exercise invites listeners to share perspectives on walking: from the presentation of a generative sound piece based on the city’s recordings to the creation of perceptual mappings on-site, also featuring practices of recording sound memories within the landscape – recognising ourselves not as builders, but as dwellers, in motion.
